ENEMY'S LINE PIERCED AT BARANOVITCHI GERMANS HURLED BACK ON THE LIPA { - Australian-Xew Zealand Cablo Association. • Petrograd, July 1. A. Russian official communique statcß:~"Fierce battles between the Styr and the Stochod continue." , "Our troops at Kolomea dislodged the enemy from several positions. . "Wo'pierced the enemy works north-east of Banniovitchi; and the battle continues. ~ "We took 2772 prisoners at Baranovitchi (on tlje hue from Brest-Litovsk to Minsk, 70 miles north of Pinsk) on Monday, with eleven cannon." (Reuter's Telegram.) Petrograd, July L A Russian official communique statos that north and westward of Baranovitchi a big battle has been raging. The Russians captured 50 officers and a thousand men. The fighting continues. "A thousand prisoners were taken on the Lower Lipa, between Dubno and Sokal, where the Germans were hurled back westward." AUSTRIAN OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE. Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. (Rcc. July 3, 9.20 p.m.) Vienna, July 5. An Austrian officiat"communique states:—"We repulsed the Russian advances iu Bukowina. Fighting in Kolomea continues with undiminished violence. Tho enemy's attacks .westward of the town did not ponetrate our lines. "Tho Austro-Garmans aro advancing south-east of Tcdumacz. "Mussed Russian attacks in Volhynia nave been repulsed everywhere with heavy losses." GERMAN OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE. London, July 1. A German official communique states:—"The Russians attacked von Hindenburg's troops at several points without result. Tliey also attacked Prince Leopold of Bavaria. Russian prisoners, totalling 189G, wero taken in the latter attacks. "Gonernl von Linsingon's attack has progressed. "General.Bothmer's quick advance forced back tho enemy south-east of Thiinacz for a distance of 5J miles on a front of 121 miles." GERMAN PLANS FOR A COUNTER-STROKE (Rcc. July G, 0.35 a.m.) Petrograd, July 5. The German plans take the form of sudden violent rußhes gainst various points on tho Russian lines, seeking either to penetrate the aro from Kolki to tho Lipa, or to pross inwards at Zatchiteki or Liniestka. The fighting is most savage.
