FIERCE TRENCH ACTIONS ON VARIOUS SECTORS The High Commissioner reports-.— London, July 4, 8.10 p.m., "On the left bank of the Meuse a German attempt to take the trenches on the slopes of Mort Homme failed under Are. ' London, July 4, 0.15 p.m. "On tho left hank of the Meuse there has been an artillery combat in the region, of Avocourt and Hill 301. "Ou the right bank the Germans redoubled their efforts in the region of Thiaumont, directing veiy violent bombardment of heavy calibre shells. Towards two o'clock, after several attempts repulsed, tho enemy launched an attack at the Thiaumont works, and succeeded in carrying tho same for the fourth time.
