KHANDALLAH DEBATING SOCIETY
The weekly meeting of tho above society, held on Tuesday evening, was devoted to .m elocutionary contest, of which Mr. H. L. Jarafs acted as judge. The following members participated in the subjects named:—Readings: Mesdumes C. Jones, A. J. Daniel, Messrs. W. Appleton, A. E. Burge, J. Casey, and A. Evans. Speeches: Messrs. W. Appleton, A. E. Budd, E. Nees, and E. Ilobbs. Recitations: Mrs. C. .Tones, Miss Nees, Messrs. E. N. M. Hogben and E. Sees. The judge placed the following as the winners of the different sections:— Reading, Mrs. C. Jones; Speech, Mr. W. Appleton; Recitation, Mr. E. N. M. Hogben. Some items, apart from the contest, wore also given by Miss Fathers, a visitor from Wellington, and were much appreciated.
