Mellsop, Eliott'and Co"., Palmerston North, local agents) report on the frozen meat market under date London, May 12. 1916, as follows:Home Grown.—Although there has been for many weeks a- big increase on tho marketing of British-bred meat compared with last year, the decrease \from other countries has more than' counterbalanced this, and prices continue to rise. Frozen—Prices for Government-controlled mutton and lamb have been raised }d. all round, but tho demand has not been affected appreciably. Mutton of all descriptions is exceedingly short..- Included in the arrivals at Liverpool and London are increasing quantities of South American beef, mutton, and lambs, originally intended for United States consumption, but re-shipped from that country to British markets, whero the high prices ruling enable this to be done at a profit. Olnlled beef, hiuds, have reached Hid., which is a record. . Market prices . week ending ' May 12. May 5, 1916. 1916 Home jtrown— d. d. d. (1.
