The Australian representative in the Belgian Commission, considers that although the operations of the Commission will continue on a large scale, there will bo no necessity for further distressing appeals to Australasia. The Foreign Office assorts that tho Commission has done its utmost to safeguard the distribution of imported foodstuffs, but admits that it is impossible to guarautee that tho Germans will carry out any agreement regarding the protection of iu.tivo foodstuffs, as they have full control of the Belgian agriculture industry. Australia and New Zealand have done tlieir duty, and have already contributed b's per cent, of the total sum 'subscribed throughout tho Empire.
