DOMINION. TOURNAMENT IN. WELLINGTON. Tne coming season promises to be one of tho most important in tho history of bowls in Wellington. It was from Wellington that the big movement started to amalgamate tho North Island Bowliug Association with the New Zealand Bowling Association (South Island), and when that idea was consummated and the Dominion Bowling Association was formed it was decided that the honour of hold ing the first Dominion tournament should be given to Duuedin. Then Auckland had its turn, and last season the big gather, ing was held in Christchurch. Welling ton, tho real originators of the coalition movement, cniHo in last, which does not mean that the coming tournament will lie the least interesting of the seties. AS Wellington is • geographically the, centre, i- is anticipated that the entries will exceed those of any previous tournament held in New Zealand. With the big tournament in view, green-keepers are taking special Tare to get their greens iuto first-class order at present. Unfortunately a very formidable grass grub appeared on some of the greeus !x-t season, aud did no end of damage, but strenuous efforts have been mado to eradicate it; aud they can only hope that it Will not innlio its reappearance w.'lh the return' of the warm weather.
