PETONE FIRE BOARD
Tho annual meeting of the Petorio Fire Board was held yesterday, Mr. J. W. M'Ewan presiding. Mr. j. AV/. M'Ewan was elected chairman for the ensuing year., Tho superintendent (Mr. C. tcpper) reported that there had been seventeen real or supposed fires during- tho year, which was ten less than for the year previous. The total loss in' this connection was .£'1192 10s„ of which ancuut the sum of ,£SB7' 10s. was covered by insUraiice.' The equipment! n't t)io station was in good order, and the discipline of the brigade well maintained. Dunns the year three members had joined li e Expeditionary Forces, making a total of four men in section frora tho Lrigada. • The (ire motor was cxpected in tho coming month, and the report rcconuusnded that a permanent man bo appointed as driver. It was decided to refer tho suggestion to Mr. Kcmpthornc and the local members of the board. The -balancesheet, showing a credit of .£56 7s. lid., was adopted, and the estimates for tho year were passed.
