THE NOMINATIONS CLOSE. Nominations for tho nowly-constitutcd Wellington Eduction Board closed at 5 p.m. yesterday. Tho persons laminated for the different areas aro as follow:— Wellington Urban Area (i'our liU'inbers remiired).-Hon. J. G. W. Ailken, M.L.C., TIIO3. Forsyth, Win. Allan, C. 11. Luke, A. H. Hindmarsh, M.P., R. A. Wright, M.P., and Mrs. W. A. Evans. Hutt-Petone TJrhan Area (two members required).—Messrs. D. M. Yeats, Geo. T. London, E. P. Rish worth, and J. G. A Castle. Hutt-Horowhenua Ward of tho Ttnral Area (two members),—Rev. F. H. Petrie. ,T. KeLbell, and W. H. Field, M.P. Wairarapa Ward of tho Rural Area (Iwo members).—Messrs. A. W. Hogg and T. Moss. Marlborough Ward of tho Rural. Area (two members).—Mr. E. H. Penny and Alex'. Mackay. Elections will bo required in three out uf the five districts. This will take place on July 19. In tho case of the Wairarapa and Marl. Ixirough ■ wards, tho persons nominated becomo automatically elected, as thoy have been returned unopposed. Included in tho above nominations aro all 'the names of tho members of the pro. sent board, with two exceptions, Sii Walter Buchanan (Wairarapa) and Mr. H. Freeman (Horowhenua). Sir Walter Buchanan has for many years taken a very lively interest in educational matters in the Wellington district, and his shrewd counsels and common-scnso ideta bavo been of the greateat value on tho board. As a gentleman who knows tho back-country, and tho difficulties of settlors in gaining anything like adequate* educational attention for their children, fiir Walter Buchanan lias earned a nama that will not soon Le forgotten by those he has served so long and faithfully, Mr. H. Freeman-,has also been a valued member of the board for some years.
