The general manager of the National, Bank of New Zealand. Limited, lia6 received a cablegram from tho London Board advising that the annual meeting of the bank will be held in London on July 4, when it is proposed to dcclare a dividend of 6 par cent, for tho half-year, and bonus to shareholders of 1 per cent, on paid-up capital (£760,000), equalling 13 per cent, for the year ended March 31 last. The sum of £15.000 lias been added to the reserve fund, which will then stand at £7M,C00, and £42,100 carried forward. The directors have further allocated £4(100 to the officers' pension and gratuity funds, and have pranted a bonus of 10 per cent, to the staff.
SOUTHERN MARKETS. By Telegraph—l'r?ss Association. N Clirlstchurch, .Tune 27. There is nothing doinc in the local wheat market, but some inquiries are .now coming to hand from North Island millers. Probably in consequence of tho firmer tone tho southern market has taken there is very .little wheat now offering by growers, who are firm holders. The Southland oats market is firmer, and second sales have been made at the Bluff at advanced rates. Locally, there is practically nothing offering. Tho potato market is rather firmer, and tales have boon made at distant stations at £6, ivliero £5' 15s. was recently paid. There are some orders in hand, but few potatoes are offering.
