If it were possjljlo to- find out how much of the .£BII,OOO is the proportion paid by th« 70,1H)y referred to, wu could make a very interesting comparison, with the JJWO.OOO which ia being paid back by the Government to tho Uivii Servants, 'i'ho payers of special taxation are settling down to this grim business of finding; the wherewithal, but they would be happier if they were allowed to do the job without being kicked into the bargain.—l am, etc., AWAUUA.
