■« . ■ This week's meeting of the above society was devoted'to Shakespearean readings from "The Taming of the Shrew," in which the following'members participated: Mrs. Jones, Miss Batham, :Messrs. C- Jones, G. Hogben, H. L; James, C. R. Luke, H. TJ. l-'iance, A. E. Burge, E. Nees, E. N. M. Hogben, A. Evang, J. H. Meadowcroft, and E. Hobbs. The read--ings were given in an excellent manner, and were much, appreciated by those present. At the next meeting the subject will be a debate, "That war tends to develop a higher type of national character .than peace does."
