FOURTEENTH REINFORCEMENTS

The Fourteenth Infantry and Engineers' Reinforcements, under llajor Brown, were reviewed fay His Excellency the Governor at Trentham racecourse yesterday. In his inspection of the troops, the Governor was accompanied by Briga-dier-General Sir A. W. Hobin, General Officer Commanding the Forces, Colonel 0. M. Gibbon, Chief of, General Staff, Colonel Purdy, Alajor Sfeeman, Captain bir Robert Walker, and tho Camp Commandant, Lieut-Colonel R. 11. Potter, and his adjutant, Captain E. C. Dovey, and assistant adjutant, Captain W. M: Bell. The weather, which was threatening, remained line during the review, gleams of sunshine occasionally lighting the sombre masses of khaki and glinting on metal accoutrements. The Trentham Camp Band, under Bandmaster i'ox; played quiet music during the inspection uml afterwards, at the saluting base! some stirring march music. Over 200 civilians were spectators. U.he ■ Lngineers, under Lieutenant Broadgate, led in the march past, and tho Infantry cume next in tile following order: A Compauy, Captain Hubbard; B Company, Captain Hawkins; C Company, Lieutenant Atwill; I) Company, Lieutenant Chisholm; B Company, Captain M'fliannid; P Company, Lieutenant Jackson; G Company, Lieutenant Bowler; U Company, Lieutenant Atkinson. The march past the shluting base was made in column of platoons, and the long double ranks of each platoon kept their dressing and distance in a remarkable maimer. Before leaving tho parade each company ie-formed into column of routs, and this evolution was particularly well done. In addressing l the Fourteenth in the afternoon, the Chief of Staff, Colonel Gibbon, 6aid that their turn-out ot yesterday's parade was about the best that had been seen at Trentham, and that if the draft turned out in as smart a manner wherever they landed from the transports, they would win praise from all who saw tliora.
