EDUCATION BOARD ELECTIONS

THE NEW ORDER, The appearance in the Press of.more than ono nomination for positions on the Wellington Education Board has drawn attention to the new order of M'.ings that is being brought about in the near future by the absorption of the Marlborough Education Distriot. As it is some. time since tho change was referred to, it is pointed out that on August 9 the whole of the members of the existing AVellington and Marlborough Education Boards retire, and from that date the two districts will bo combined under the one board. The election rests with school committees of duly constituted school districts, from whom nominations will be received up to June 28, and the eleotion will take place on July 19. The new divisions and representation are as follows;—

Wellington -Urban Area, to include the school districts within Wellington City and the boroughs of Karori, Onslow; and Miramar—four members.

ilutt-Potone Urban Area, to include the school districts within the. Hutt and Potone boroughs—two members, • Hutt-Horowhernia Ward of the.Rural Area, to include tho school districts within the' Horowhenun, : Hutt, and Makara counties—two members.

Wairarapa Ward of the Rural Area, to include the school districts -within the Pahiatua, Akitio, Eketahuria, Maurice, ville, Masterton, CastlepOint, Wairarapa South, and ]?eatherston counties—two members.

Marlborough' Ward of tho Rural Area, to include the school districts within the Sounds, Marlborough, and Awatere counties—two members. .

If in any division of the Education District a greater number of valid nominations is received than that mentioned above, then there will in due course ..be transmitted to tho chnirman of/ each 6chool committee' in each division in which there will be a contested election a supply of voting papers for t.bo members of the committee, in the case of contested elections, tho count of votes 'will be on August 2. So far the only nominations receivW by the secretary •of the board (Mr. G. L. Stewart) are as follow:— Wellington Area—Hon. J. G. W- Aitken, and Messrs. W. Allan, C. M.- Luke, and Thomas Forsyth. .'. Hutt-Petone Area—Messrs. G. London, D. P. Rishworth, D. M. Teats. Marlborough Area—Mr. E. H. Pciney.
