INTENSE FIGHTING ON ALL FRONTS. • i , THE WAR SITUATION REVIEWED. » ("Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.) ffiec. Juno 19, 5.5.p.m.) Intense- fighting on all fronts, unparalleled since tho carliest'mo'nths of tho war, still marks the situation. Tho German tactics are obviously intended to keep tho Allies busy, in the hope of preventing general offensives. The Russians' substantial progress has already relieved the Italians, whose whole front is securelv situated along a Strong defensive line, while successfully counter-nttack-ing. The foars of an Austrian entry into the Venetian Piain have been dissipated. * ''.'He momentum of the Russian advance is undiminished, although M. Mnr'col Hutin, who is specially well informed on Russian mutters, suggests in tho "Echo' de Paris" that Russia's objective; is not a strategic success, but the reduction of the enemy's effectives, which»she has achieved. The strategic situation remains intensely interesting. It is "known that the Austrians are attempting tu effect a junction with General von Linsingen and General von Bothmer, with large German reinforcements, and are hoping to stop the Russians north of Barnliovitch. French military writers emphasise tlio' fact that; the plan in connection with the Russian offensive requires that the Allies shall come to grips with the enemy in all theatres, thus preventing the transfer of forces to vital zones.
