According .to the Italian official report, the Russian blow .in Galicia has not as yet had tho effect of weakening .tho Austrian forces in the Trentino, and the theory is thai the enemy is striving, his-utmost to force a decision of somo kind before tho urgency of the call elsewhere, forces him to reinforce' his other hard-pressed fronts. One dispatch from London makes a noto of tho fact that intensely violent fighting in all tho great war theatres, , suggesting the idea that tho Allies' general offensivo has commenced. So .far as the news'from- tho Western front- is , concerned, the active fighting is still chiefly confined to tho Verdun sector, although the artillery duel -on the British front is assuming an intenso character, each side being apparently content for the present to pound with heavy artillery tho front--line trenches, of the other. A message from Greece- states that the Greek Cabinet is at one with tho King and with the Chamber of Deputies : in setting-itself in defiance of tho Allies.
