Senator Pearce, Minister of Defence, replying to queries as to tho possibility of honouring the Government's promise to provide 300,000 troops by the end of Juno, stated that tho Government did not promise 300,000, but undertook to pro. vide an additional 50,000, with reinforcements, which, calculating on the wastage at Gallipoli, would mean 286,000 to tho end of June. Koinforcements requirements had since been Teduced. Tho Government's promise had been completely fulfilled. We have sufficient men to supply reinforcements to tho end of June,
and the Government expocted to be able to meet requirements after that date.
