The position appears to hayo changed somewhat since Wednesday. Those who favour the- retention of the. present hours stated yesterday that they aie confident of, being able to secure a majority of four, if not sis. . Supporters of reduction, on tho other hand, continue to express them : selves iu hopeful terms. Another opinion from what is regarded as an influential quarter- is that there is no certainty, and that a division might result in even voting. The War Regulations Bill, which deals with the liquor question, is not likely to come forward for discussion until the week after next. Tho Petitions Committee sat yesterday morn, ing and afternoon, taking further evidence regarding petitions in favour of six o'clock closing. ' •
