A German cruiser, two destroyers, nnd eight armoured trawlers were cojivoviilg fourteen steamers near Aykoping (on tie Swedish coast, north-west of Gothland), when six Russian destroyers and several submarines suddenly attacked with such speed that tlio Germans were completely surprised and only fired a singlo shot, the trawlers then turning and making for port with full speed, two of them arriving much damaged. • . '-The Russians sank tlio cruiser Koenig von Sachsen, tho wholo of the crow ?. e n"Vl? 0Wlre(1 , an<l also 11 Gcnna " destroyer, but a trawler was able to savo 150 of the crew. : Tho fourteen merchantmen were sunk. The action lasted fortv-fivo minutes <uid tho Russians were unharmed. " '
