THE POLAR RESCUE EXPEDITION
ANTARCTIC SHIP DISCOVERY TO BE : EQUIPPED. Tho High.Commissioner reports: London, Juno 14, 12.15 a.m., "The Admiralty Committee ,of the Sliackleton Relief Expedition reports that the ship Discovery is to be equipped'.at. once for a two years' voyage. A small party is to be landed in' the winter to search the ooasts by sledge in the autumn ' and spring, and the ship is to return between 1917 and 1918. "Tl»e committee's recommendation had . been approved by the Government when Sir Ernest Shackloton arrived at the Falkland Islands. Since then ths- com- \ mittee has been, advised with Tegard to the rescue of the 22 meu left on Elephant Island, that Sir Ernest Shackleton will do this in tho vessel sent from Uruguay. , "Tho rescue of tho men who were left' by the ship Aurora will be eft'octed with tho co-operation of Australia and New Zealand." '
