ALL-FOR-EMPIRE LEAGUE
The secretary of the All-for-Empire League states that' the Prime Minister and Sir Joseph Ward have consented to become patrons of the league, that the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) is to be its first honorary president, and that the Hon. W. H. Harries, the Hon. Dr. E. M'Nab, Mr. Harold Beauchamp, and Mr. D. J. Nathan havo accepted the positions of honorary vice-presidents. A number of leading business gentlemen who. have been approached on the subject are offering themsolves as members of the General Committee, and altogether the arrangements for getting the league _to work are shaping very nicely. 11l view of the members' meeting called for this evening at the Chamber of Commerce, ladies and gentlemen holding membership books are asked to return them fore tho meeting, so that the members' list can be made up. • The meeting, which is called for S o'clock, will be of an interesting character, as the foundation members of the league will take the opportunity/of explaining the motives influencing them in its formation, and the reasons, why such a league 6hould appeal to every patriotically-minded citizen. Ladies are specially invited to attend the meeting.
