MINING NEWS.
STOCK EXCHANGE. By Telegraph—l'ress Association. Dunedin, June 11. Union Steam, £1 12s. 6d. The mine manager of the Waihi Beefs Gigantic Consolidation, Ltd., in his report for the week ended June 3, says:—"l beg to report on the work at No. 2 shart es followsA total of 76 feet has been driven on reef on north side at 300 feet lovel;'6s feet of this is directly north, on quartz, while 11 feet is cut at right-angles into tho reef-body to prove size and value. In driving north in face we are taking out 5 to 6 feet in width. The quartz is very solid, and has a promising appearance, and is "well mineralised; samples are taken for assay at short intervals, and judging by appearance improved values should bo obtained as drive advances. During the past week additional labour has been employed underground and less ■on surfacc. Machinery is working well, and water in shaft is not troublesome."
