"Knance— I The net profits for the year amounted to .C 97 12s.'2d. "During/ the past twelve months 97 cows have-been awarded certificates by the New-Zealnn'd Department of ,Agn-. ; culture as.:the result of the semi-official test conducted'by' that Department. The average production of these 97 cows was ' as follows:—.

■ At the-meeting tho following remits from .tho Stratford branch will be brought forward:— ."That tho New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders' Association is of the opinion that it is in the best interests of the breeders of all live stock that 'the live stock show in Palmerston North be a Royal Show, where only prize winnersat other shops may compete—that, the Manawatu A. and P. Association be approached, and if found in favour of the proposal, that the New Zealand Jersey Breeders' Association immediately approach other breed associations and tho A, and P. Associations asking their co-operation with a view to bringing tho proposal to a successful issue. "That the N.Z.J.C.B. Association Council be urged to increase tho semi-official classes to eight, viz.', one each for junior and senior, 2, 3, 4, and 5-year-olds. "That the council again circularise breeders, prohibiting the sale of grade bulls. "That the judges' list lie cancelled, and the council to appoint new judges for a period of two years." ■' SMALL BIRD PEST By Telegraph—Press Association. Timaru, June 10. Delegates of rural local bodies held a conference on tho small birds'pest. Several conferences have been held in the past, but have been resultless. It was decided to ask the Minister of Agriculture to instruct the Department's chemist to endeavour to discover an effective poison which would not betray itself by its taste, as those in use do. It was resolved in the meantime to continue the practice of buying eggs and heads.
