TRADES COUNCIL MEETING

Mr. M. J. Reardon presided at a meet ing of the Trades Council, held in tho Trades Hall last night. Various committee reports were presented by the secretary and were adopted. It was decided that a- deputation wait on tho Minister of Public Works to protest against tho suspension of the Order-in-Council providing for tho issuing of workers' tickets on tlio tramways. Tho annual report from tho Workers' Education Association was received, and adopted. It was resolved to urge all trade Unions to link up with the association. Numerous .cases were mentioned.of tho non-activity of tho Labour Department in investigating breaches of awards. It was decided to refer tho matter to the management committee for investigation and further action. It was decided to further consider tha position of the many apprentices who it is believed are not being efficiently taught their trades.
