MEETING OP ASSOCIATION. . The., quarterly, meeting of the New Zealand Lown Tennis Association was held 011 Tuesday, Sir. A. G. Henderson in the chair. There wero also present: Messrs.i George Gore, D. M. Kean, P. Thompson, Barry lCeesing, M. IV Instone. , The quarterly report of tho Management Committee (already published) was adopted, together with the quarterly statement of accounts. ' llule'3B was altered, on the motion of Mr. Keosing, to read in the seventh line, "31st March" instead of ,"30tli September," the alteration being consequent upon a previous - alteration iu llu'le 11 having reference to returns as'to club membership to bo forwarded-by affiliated associations each year. The interpretation of the. Management Committee as to the adoption of a ball was agreed to as follows (a) The council shall decido upon a ball or balls for adoption; (b) such decision shall be made at a council meeting, of which duo notice to affiliated associations shall be given; (c) the Management Committee shall not be under any responsibility to tho council in submitting a certain or any makes of ball for approval, but may advise council on any matter affecting a ball or balls, which it would be necessary that the council should know when discussing the question. On the motion of Mr. Instono, "Ayres" tennis ball was adopted for tlie New Zealand championship meeting, 191G, if.such is held. The congratulations of the association wero accorded Captain JI. E. Denniston on his return by the hospital ship-Ma-heno, and the secretary was instructed to forward samo to liira. An explanation by the Dannevirlce Lawn Tennis Club as to the; substitution of players in a rsccnt tournament was received, and referred to the Management Committee for attention. Mr. F. 0. Austin, lion, auditor to tho association, forwarded his resignation, which was due to his enlistment. The resignation was accepted, and Mr. Austin congratulated on the step he has taken. The appointment of an auditor will be made at next quarterly meeting.
Reference was made to the loss sustained by Mr. G. A. Hurley, for many years an enthusiastic player of.tennis, in the death of his daughter, and sympathy with Mr. Hurley and his family was expressed.
