This is interpreted as a preparation for an advance on Kavala. AN INTERVIEW WITH GENERAL SABRAIL. May 30. The "Petit Parisien's"' correspondent at Salonika asked General Sarrail a question regarding the enemy's artillery activity. Tho General shrugged his shoulders, and remarked: "All this is merely to conceal the relieving of troops. They aro wasting a lot of munitions of poor quality, and without result. ADVANCE IN EASTERN MACEDONIA'FORESHADOWED. (Rec. Hay 81, 3.30 p.m.? London, May'3o. Writing from Salonika, tlic "Daily C lirouiclc's" correspondent states:—"Tho Greeks continue to hold tlio railway station at Demirliissar. The Bulgars have taken up a position on the heights with in two miles ot the town. Tho concentration at Nevrokop foreshadows a continuance of tho Bulgarian advance in Eastern Macedonia." ITiTkSTON OF MACEDONIA A MATTER FOR GREECE.(Rec. May 31, 9 p.m.) Salonika, May 31. Tho Bulgarian concentrations are threatening Seres, Drama, and Kava'la. The Allies view the invasion with equanimity. Tho policy of throwing open the gates of Macedonia is deemed to be the co ncern of Greece alono. Twenty-five Bulgarians wero killed and forty-five—including three Geraians— wero wounded in tho fighting at Kula (reported on Monday). ■Messages from Berlin state that Bulgaria is operating in Macedonia in accordance with an agreement with the Greek Government. RUSSIANS ADVANCING TO THE TIGRIS TURKISH ATTACK ROUTED WITH . LOSS. 1 ' (Rec. May 31, 10.30 p.m.) Petrograd, May 31. A considerable force of Turks on a ten-mile front "attacked a Russian column which was advancing on Nineveh (in <tho region of Mosul).' The attackers wero routed with heavy loss. The Turks were apparently those troops who were released after the Kut capitulation. Bagdad has been placed in a stropg state of defence, tho best German methods being employed, but probably the fate of the iow\> will be decided at Nineveh, the loss of which will mean tho isolation of Bagdad. Tho task of Sir Percy Lako's force is now to immobilise as many of tho enemy as possible, in order to assist the Russians. The probable purpose of the ride of tile Cossacks to British Headquarters was to arrange tho joint. operations.
