OUR FROZEN MEAT IN LONDON
HIGH COMMISSIONER ADDRESSES COLD STORAGE ASSOCIATION. :
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright
London, May 30. At the annual meeting of the Cold Storage and Ice Association, the New Zealand Bigh Commissioner (Hon.' T. Mackenzie) corrected erroneous statements published in New Zealand papers, that there'.were eight million carcasses in New Zealand awaiting shipment. There was really only ah accumulation of hvo aud a half millions, which was entirely due to the scarcity of tonnage. He hoped that the experience of the value-of frozen meat during the war would induce the British Government to help the development of the association, with a view to tho probability of Continental nations importing meat after tho war.' He suggested holding a conference to decide what system of inspection was desirable. He thought the New .Zealand system quite adequate. A member suggested that the British Government should lie asked for ,£SOOO for educational research purposes. The matter was referred to the Council.
