DISCHARGED SOLDIERS' SECTIONS Tlio monthly meeting of the Wellington Land Board was concluded yesterday, when most of the business transacted concerned applications for land by discharged soldiers. Discharged Soldiers' Applications. Applications for land by discharged soldiers wero considered, and it was resolved to grant tho requests in each of the. following cases-.—AV. J. Osborne, Section 43, Block I, Apiti, 150 acres 1 rood; H. H. Brooks, Section 45, Block I, Apiti, 2-49 acres 2 roods; J. A. Montgomerie, Section 31, Block 11, Humia, 310 acres approximately; I\ H. Paddy, Section 28,, Hall-Jones Settlement, 1 acre, 3 roods 1G perches; .■Robert H. Grace, Section 25, Block IV, ICaitieko S.D., 140 acres A. L. The Under-Secretary ,of Lands advised that tho land recently surveyed north of Manawatu Gorge, Sections 6, 10, and 11, Block IV, Gorge, comprising 21G0 acres 3 roods 7 perches, should bo offered for settlement. It was resolved that the land should be set apart for application by discharged soldiers. Tho Commissioner reported that Section 2, Block 11, Manganui S.D., GS4 acres, can be regarded as available for disposal, and it was resolved to ballot it amougst discharged soldiers, under Tho Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, subject to the provisions of Section 135 of tho Land Act, 1908, and to Section 30 of the Land Law 9 x Amendment Act, 1913. Miscellaneous. Bangers Lundius and Smith submitted valuations of 48 sections in lktaruke and AVhirinaki Survey Districts, and it was resolved to adopt tho ! rangers' values, with the exception of Section It, Block XI, Returuke, and Section 2, Block XV, Ketaruke, which wero referred back. C. J. Chcsham, lessee of R.O.K. 18, Block VIII, Momahaki S.D., 2397 acres, applied to have this section brought under tho provisions of Section 25 o£ the Eeierves i and-other Lands Disposal, etc., Act, 1911, and it was resolved to adjourn the application for tho ranger's\report. • It was resolved with regard to J. H. Berry, Scction 6, Block XI, ilt. Cerberus, I6:i acita, to grunl six months for payment of. rout m arrears, and if lie.does not accept these terms liis interest will bo forfeited at next meeting. ' The valuations of tho 42 subdivisions in the Hall-Jones Settlement, near Lower Huti'. which, had been mado by tho Vainer-General, wero submitted. It . was resolvbd to ajjprove, and that the improvements to be effected in terms of Regulation 8, bo as follow—(a) Within one year fyorn tho date of lease, substantial improvements to the valuo. of .-£5 O. and the section to be ring-fenced; and (b) within three years further substantial improvements to a valuo of 'J. L. This section'was declared forfeited at last .meeting, of the board .for non-payment of lent. Rent has now been- paid up, and ■ie following resolution was carried: 'Subject to J. The Commisisoner submitted a scheme of subdivision of lUb'i) acres of Crown land ia Block 11, Hunua, into four sections, and also valuations of the subdivisions which wero adopted as under:— Classified as 'first-class land, and im. provements to be effected: Section 31, 310 acrcs, i' 3 per acre; Section 32, 250 acres, M per acre; Section 33,/ 2-10 acres, £3 per acre; Section 31, 263 acres, per acre.
