GERMANY'S FOOD CRISIS By Telesrooh—Press Association—Oouyricht Amsterdam, May 23. A Berlin official message says that Herr von Batoclr's new Tool Board is called tho War Feeding Office. Herr Batock is empowered to dispose of all foodstuffs, raw material, and fodder in Germany, and also to regulate the sale, consumption, expropriation, importation, and exportation thereof. The latest suggestion to cope -with .the scarcity of meat in Germany is to shoot rooks. Gamekeepers declare that the cost of : shooting is prohibitive, us they are only retailed at a mark a piece. According to the "Voerwaerts," horseflesh is selling at two and three marks per pound. Geneva, May 23. It is estimated that the oxen in Germany, which numbered 20,000,000 before the war, now total 8,000,000. A great number of horses and dogs liavo been eaten. STREET KITCHENS IN HAMBURG. ("Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.) London, May 23. The Sclileswig-Holstein journal, "Heimdel," states that it has been impossible to butter, lard, and meat in largo towns since Easter. Travelling street kitchons are now universal, ' Hamburg having 76, feeding 150,000 people daily.
