GOLF

On Saturday a mixed foursome competition against bogey was held by the Waiwetn Golf Club lor prizes presented by the captain (Mr. A. J. Hobbs). The competition resulted in a tie between Miss V. Bennett and R. C. Kirk (16) and Miss M. Downes and G. P. Judd (21), who finished 1 down on bogey. Other cards returned'were: —Mi6s A. Gaynor and E. Fair (15), 5 down; Miss'C. Stevens and A.. G. Jones (21), 5 down. The. club has decided "that the value of all prizes won during the war shall be devoted to patriotic purposes. The prizes won on. Saturday have been donated by the winners to the Red Cross Fund. Next Saturday a bogey competition for men will be held lor a prize presented by a member, -Mr. H.' J. Palmer, of Petone, ■ who recently enlisted for the front.
