■'CIVILIAN''SERVICE? ' The member for Hutt has given, no J 1 Hce to ask tli© Minister of Defence whether, he will, when introducing'the Military Service Bill, include the following ■clauses: "(1) Ail male inhabitants bf.New Zealand between the ages' of twenty and fifty years (not hereinafter exempted) .who have resided in* New Zealand for six months, and are British subjects, shall be liablo to render military or, civilian service either in or out of New Zealand as may be required. (2) All persons who are certified by a registered medical practi•j tioner, appointed by the Governor for the purpose, to be physically .unfit shall, be exempt froni the liability to render military service or to render' civilian serivice according to the tenor of the certificate. (3) For the purposes'of this Act, the Governor may make such appoint- .■ ments and constitute such authorities ond make'such regulations as he thinks fit. (4) For the purposes of this Act, y 'civilian service' means service of any $ kind under the . Government or service 1 in any, productive industry."
