BOYS' INSTITUTE
At the meeting of 'the Management Committee of the Wollington Boys' Institute, held the other evening, satisfaction was expressed at tho types of boys attending the institute.
Tho Director in his report intimated that already the membership of the institute comprised 142 boys. At the opening "social" in • connection with the boys' department, a very attrac tivo programme was carried out, splendid assistance being rendered by tho institute orchestra.
The boys, had a real good evening, enjoying themselves to tho fullest. In all -lt)o boys have passed through the institute during the first week, since tho opening of tho boys' department, during which time the bath, games rooms, reading room, and gymnasium havo been open to the boys. '.'..' During tho Easter holiday's the institute were delighted to bo able to accommodate twelve of tho boys of the Ponsonby Boys' Drum and Fife Band. Since the opening of the new building in Tasinan Street a large number of visitors havo inspected the • building, and' especially the tepid swimming baths, which they reckon is one if tho finest in New Zealand. It is tho intention of tho Management Committee, with the assistance of the Wellington Swimming Centre and the Royal Life Saving Sociotv, to teach swimming and life-saving free of cost in the near future. -—— .
