SOCIALISTS APPLAUD ROBBERY.
Sir,—lou give a prominent place and much of your space to iuform your readers about what a few irresponsible nobodies have to say about "'high rents." In tho first place, your informant is guilty of a gross inaccuracy, viz., "at a largely attended meeting in Alexandra Hall/' The meeting was not largely attended, in fact the chief speaker—the only one worth listening to—Mrs. Donaldson, said she was "sorry to see so few present." The. lady lashed her bearers most unmercifully.' She was greeted with ironical cheers, aud was little respected, by a few would-be wits—Socialists, I presume, from their remarks—who carried on a running comment whiln Mrs. Donaldson was speaking. According to Mrs. Donaldson, "everything was being increased in price for no reason whatever!"' When a leading light of alleged Socialist' 1 is cheered on making such an afcsur d statement you can form some idea of tho intellectual capacity of the "comrades ft »r tho revolution." "Comrade" Hutchesrun ought to be more careful. He. "urgj.nl that houses in certain quarters should fee burned down!" We are in constant danger of a big firo in .Wellington. All our energies are directed to prevent siwh a catastrophe. Yet this sort of tali; is indulged in. When "Comrade" M'K<snzie said some people did not pay iiheir vonts the applause was spontaneous ,a,nrt uproarious. Socialists applauded robtxsry! —I am, etc., JOHN S. ROBBIE.
