, London, May 14. Official.— Lance-Corporal' Naik Lala, of the list Dogras, Indian Army, has been awarded the Victoria Cross. He dragged a wounded British officer of another regiment into a temporary shelter of his own construction, where he had previously bandaged four wounded men. He heard calls from the adjutant of his own regiment, who was severely wounded within a hundred yards of the enemy. It seemed certain death to venture out. but Lala insisted,' and went. He offered to crawl back with the adjutant on his back, but this was not permitted. He stripped himself of his clothes to keep tho adjutant warmer ami lemaincd. with him until dark, when he returned to the shelter.
