OLD CHURCH TO DISAPPEAR. The 28th annual report of the Courtenay Place Congregational Church shows 6teady progi'ess under the ministry -ot tho Rev. A. K Hunt. During tho year sixteen names had been added to the roll and nine had. been removed. The membership stands at 131,; of whom 106 ire town members. Good attendances characterise the Sunday services, also a. constant incoming of strangers. Attendance at mid-week services is disappointing. A ■total of J!Glt has been raised during the year, .£i(ib' 14s. 9d. being contributed through the envelope system; ,£llO has been contributed to tho London Missionary Society; .£SO to Home Missions. The teaching staff of the Sunday school is 17, and the school roll is 125 scholars, of whom 42 are in the primary department. The Ladies' Guild has dono active work, and a combined Bible class has been taken by the pastor. A new Trust Board for the church property has been sot up, consisting ,of Messrs. I''orsyth, Lewis, Port, Dougall, Stewart, and Reynolds. Tho out-landing business of the year is tho sale of the church property. A new home hits been secured. . ■ The original church roll ghdwtd a membership of 33. It is now 135; of the 33 there were 21 transferred from Boiyen Street, now Terrace Church. , The original members still on the roll are: Mrs. Thawley, sen., Mrs. Williams, Mies Annie Mitcaff, and Messrs. A. Gray and A. M. Lewis. Tlw report stated that "they stood loyally by the Church through many vicissitudes." Plans are being prepared, for a new building for a church and Sunday-school. Pending tho erection of tho new church, tho congregation will meet at tho Primitive Methodist Church, Webb Street. The Sunday school will be held in Clyde Quay'Infant Schoolroom. The 28th anniversary of tho ' church was celebrated by' special services yesterday, the last Sunday in the old building. The Rev. J. Reed Ulasson conducted the service in tho morning, and the Rev A. E. Hunt (the pastor of (he church) in the evening. Tho tea' and annual meeting will bo held on Tuesday next, which will bo tho last meeting to be held in the church. Tho property will ba handed over to tho purchasers on May 23.
