• _$ . Several properties in the Wairarapa are shortly to be cut up for closer settlement. One of these is in the neighbour, hood of Grey town. A suggestion has been made that, with a view to popularising the troop trains to Masterton, tugs-of-war between soldiers and civilians should be arranged. It is probable that this suggestion will bo given elfeet to. Mr. Justice Chapman has given judg. went for the defendant in the caso in which J. B. Keith, of Masterton, claimed commission from T. Hills in connec, tion with the sale of a property at Matarawa. The case was heard at tho last sitting of the Supreme Court. Tho estimates of the Wairarapa Hospital and Charitable Aid Board for the cvsuing year havo just been prepared, and allocations made between the various local bodies. Tho total expenditure for tho year is put down at i-IG/188.
