SOLDIERS' CARNIVAL
TRENTHAM QUEEN RESULT.
The Queen Carnival competition conducted at Trentham Camp during the' p , a, rco lveells . in aid.of the "Distressed Irentham Soldiers' Fund," was concluded on Friday. The successful candidate was the nominee of the 15th Reinforcements, Miss Dorothy Young, of Upper Hutt, who, polling 20.850 votes, was duly declared Queen of the Carnival. Miss Doughty, Wellington, the 16th, 17th, and 18th n.c.o.'s and Engineers' candidate, was runner-up with 17,211 votes. Following are the names of the respective candidates and their nominators, together with tho number of votes polled:— Votes.. Miss Dorothy 'Yonng (Upper Hutt), 15th Reinforcements 20.850 Miss Doughty (Wellington), 10th, 17th, and 18th n.c.o.'s and Engineers 17,2-11 Miss Gear (Lower Hutt), N.Z. M.C. & Headquarters Staff 12,354 Mre. (Colonel) Cummings, 12th Reinforcements 5.524 Total- votes polled 59,002 As a result of the carnival, £2U IBs. I 4Jd. has been received to date. The fund ' will be managed by a committee, con. ilsung of the Commanding Officer, tho Principal Medical Officer, Camp Adjutunt, and Camp Quartermaster. It will be strictly confined to Trentham and its inmates, and called the Distressed Trentham Soldiers' Benevolent Fund.
