: 0 ' ' CITY'S ANSWER AN IMPROVEMENT REPORTED The Buckle Street Recruiting Office reports an improvement in city recruiting. The city group has to find 172 infantry by May 29. Already it has enrolled over 130 for the next draft, so that about 40 more'are required. The,shortages in previous drafts have been reduced to 35, so that if 75 moro infantry are raised in the next fortnight, Wellington will have wiped the slato clean. In the Tciifa Hall a well-atjendod mesting was held 011 Thursday night'for the purpose of forming committees to canvass the district and perfect the roll. Mr. At. W. At the conclusion'-of the rieetiilg hwly votes of thanks was accorded the speakers,- and n strong committer was set up to carry out the work for which the meeting, was held. The fir«t meeting of ths committee will lie held at Mr. Mabey's house on Monday night.
