The excellent work in connection with recruiting undertaken by the Women's National' Reserve, was completed, yesterday—a total of 13,000 circulars and curds having been sent out between 1(1 a.m. on i Monday and li p.m. on Wednesday. The president (Dr. Plaits-Mills) wishes to thank the committees and members for their prompt and loyal response, and states that if and w-hon their services are required further they will lie notified through the: columns of this paper by tho executivo of tho Reserve, Sister Cochran, of the Christchurch Hospital stall, is visiting her sister, Mrs. C. j '.- Brown, Kilbirnie. ■; '■ The annual meeting of the Women's Hed Cross Committee of the British Bed Cross and Order of St. John (Wellington branch), formerly known as the Military Hospital ti'uild, takes place in the Mayor's Room of tho Town Hall this evening.
Miss Jean Andrews, who has been act-ing-assistant secretary to the X.W.C.A. for some ■ time, has been transferred to Dunedin. A. farewell tea, will be given at the rooms in her honour this evening at 6 o'clock, when members aro invited to attend. ~ . .
The death, is announced of an old resident of the' West Coast, Mrs. Anno Thorpe, which took place last Saturday at tho residence, of her daughter, Mrs. Pye, at 5 Tonics Grove. Mrs. Thorpe was )78 years of age, and came out to New Zealand over 50 years ago. She leaves a family of four sons and three daughters, tho youngest; 'son being, away on active service.
