WELLINGTON RUGBY UNION

COMMITTEE MEETING. Mr. D. D. Weir presided at last night'smeeting of the Management Committee of tho Wellington Kugby'Union, and there were also present: Messrs. W. I'\ Hornig,. A. C. Kitto, D. Madden, J. N. Millard, W. H. Donovan, 11. Buck, G. Howe, and »\ • G. Talbot (secretary). iho Sehvyn Football' Club and the St. James s Football Club were granted the use of Athletic Park on certain evenings ior the purpose of training. A letter was received from the New Zealand Rugby Union, stating that on account of non-payment of subscription, the \\ ellington Onion had been suspended, in accordance with the .provisions' of Rule •M. Tho New Zealand Union's letter added that if the subscription were not paid by the date of tho annual meeting the Wellington delegates would not be able to vote at the meeting or take part in any discussion.

It was resolved to pay the .subscription forthwith, but to draw attention to tho fact that the Wellington Union had not last year received any grant for school football, and that it was considered an amount under this heading should have been used-as a set-off for tho subscription claimed. Mr. W. A. Saunders, secretary of the Southland Rugby Union, wrote'asking for support for a. resolution vhicli it was proposed to submit to the New Zealand Union. Tho resolution read as follows:— In view of the impoverished conditions of some of the affiliated anions, due to the war, all payments of interest accruing duo since January 1, 1!))6, be foregone, and that the repayment of. principal of loans bo suspended during tho currency of the war." It "was resolved to leave tho matter in the hands of tho union's delegates, who will be at liberty to discuss the Whole question of the New Zealand Union's charges. Tho draw for Saturday's seven-a-side tournament resulted as follow:—Third class: Wellington v. Petono, Selwyn v. Athletic, Poneke v. University, St. Patrick's v. Oriental. Fifth class: Oriental v, St. James. Athletic v. Selwyn, Poneke v. Hiitt, Petone v. St.- Patrick's. Eight Trentham teams will also bo taking r pari in the tournament.
