MANUKA FROM SYDNEY. , Up till a lato hour last night tho local office of the Union Company had not been advised by tho captain of the Manuka as to tho vessel's expected time of arrival at Wellington from Sydney to-day. It is presumed, however, that sho will show up this afternoon, aml> she will berth at tho Queen's Wharf on arrival.

out the run. Heavy rain was tho order practically all the trip. Sho lifts 700 tons of cargo to dischdrg« at this port, including transhipments ex the Baltic, Loongana, Indaira, St. Jean, and Ka'shgar. The Wiranicra will leavu for Melbourne, via- *thc south, at 5 p.m. to-day. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP, Mr. T. W. Inkst«r, third officer of the Komala, has left that vessel and his signed on the Mararoa in a similar capacity. Mr. A. Inmau has signed off a special service vessel and has come a6hore for orders. _ Captain W. Robertson, late master of tho ill-fated schooner Strathcoua, ia now* in command of the barque Manamii, at picsent on her way from Noumea- to Auckland.
The Dongarra, from New York, via Auckland, loft the northern, port lato on Friday afternoon for Wellington direct. She is expected this morning, and will berth at tho King's Wharf. The Government training ehip Amokura, which has been absent for some weeks on her periodical visit to the outlying islands in search of castaways, and to replenish depots, arrived hack in Wellington, via the Bluff and Akaroa, on Friday night. The -vessel will now lay up for the winter. The Northern Company's twin-screw steamer Rimu arrived at' Onehunga ou Thursday morning from Kawhia end Baglan with a broken shaft. The accident occurred at Kawhia, but the propeller was fortunately saved. The Rinui was placed on the beach on Thursday night in readiness for a' new shaft to bo fitted at low tido the following morning. It was expected that sho would bo able to take up her running, as usual ou Friday. The British-India steamer Carpentaria (under charter to tho New ping Company) arrived in port from Wanganui aboutnoon on.Saturday. Tho vessel berthed at the Glasgow Wharf. It is definitely announced that the Takapuna will depart on Wednesday on her new West Coast run. The vessel will leave for Wcstport direct, and thence will !go to Greymouth. On the Tcturn trip she will come from Nelson direct to Wellington. From Dunedin, via ports, tho Kittawa arrived in port yesterday. She is expected to got away for Wcstport and Greymouth to-day. The repairs to tho steamer Opouri at Lyttelton are pTococding satisfactorily, and arc expeoted to be completed about Thursday next. The vessel subsequently proceeds to Greymouth, whero she loads timber for Lyttelton.
