ST. BARNABAS'S CHURCH

The first" animal meeting of parishioners of St. Barnabas's Parochial District was held in tlio Day School. Koseneath, the vicar, the liev. .It., franklin, M.A., presiding. The report and balance-sheet showed that soine.£6()'J had been received for various purposes. Offertories for' the nine mouths the district had heen constituted amounted to £110, this being a considerable increase upon' what had been received in past years. Sustentation Fund hud produced £101). Tlio bazaar had produced ;i nett profit of £.188, a most gratifying result;.'£lso of this had been paid off the vicarage, debt wul £32 had been spent on painting and renovating tho church. The windows of tiio church had been replaced by load light lixtures at a cost 0f.£13, n.nd £8 had been expended upon improving the church grounds. The church and land is now free from debt, and has been vested in trustees, and' the vicarage debt has been reduced to £640. The 'number of acts of communion'for. the nino months was 672, an increase of 14 per mouth, against the previous .year, and the services generally show a marked incrc.vic in the attendance. Tlio Sunday School had increased to so large an extent that it was found neces-. mi-.v to tako the day-school for that , purpose. There are J3O name* on the roll. •

Tlio vicar, in making a few remarks, gave great praise tu the energetic and loyal band of workers the district was fortunate in possessing, also to the Sun-, day School teachers, decorators and n-agazine distributors, who bad been of very great assistance to him in the work of the parish. Tlio vicar nominated"'Mr. D. Keir as his churchwarden-and Mr. K. S'. Inuos secretary to Sustentation Fund. The election of officers then took place and resulted as follows:—Parishioners' warden, Mr. A. 'IVing; vestrv, Messrs. Avery, Callain, Bardsloy, Brooke-Taylor, Graco; synodsman: Mr. D. Keir wa s the ridge, and Scott; auditor. Mr. H. Graco; synodsman, Mr. D. Keir was the only person nominated, and was declared elected. \
