Tho largest number of was in tin) ' infantry; 172 men in this class were wanted,,and 126 answered the roll call ycteiday. This leaves a shortage of 46 . m .this branch, of the service., The De- , fence authorities anticipated that- the shortage would have been even greater because the draft paraded 67 short at dental inspection on -Monday, but 21 men who had either registered on Monciayj or who- had failed to parade on ,' Monday morning, turned up'yesterday.■ tnd reduced the' shortage. Of the remaining units the Mounted Riiles quota was two men short and the Ariny Service Corps was-one nian short at the parade.
