MOTOR BOAT BLOWN TO SEA
BUT RETURNS SAFELY. By Telegraph—PrcEs Association. Chrlstohuroh, May 1. The motor-boat Ariki, containing Charles Wendt, which was blown' out to sea by the south-westerly, and was missing since yesterday, was picked uf this afternoon aud brought back to Lytt telton by the Harbour Board tug, which went out in search, and sighted ther boat five miles outside the Godley Head, making slow progress under sail, improvised by stretching a r.ug across two oars.. Wendt stated that his boat was blown fifty miles out to sea when the wind veered round east, about 4 a.m. Ha hoisted an' impromptu sail, and using liis watch as a'compass, headed towards Lyttelton. He was about five miles out when the.tug appeared.'
