BILLIARDS
F.ach winter owners of small billiard tables have held a handicap contest. This event is keenly looked forward to, and has provided a means of testing skill and advancing in proficiency. This year the contest will take place in Messrs. Alcock and Co.'s showrooms, which, together with two 9ft. tables, has been generously placed at the disposal of the players. Tho first games will be contested on Tuesday next, wlien W. Jackson (rec. 60) plays 6. Hemingway; W. Frasar (owe 75) plays W. J. Biihnan (rec. 30); E. R. Jacobson (owe 50) plays H. Algar (rcc. 100); IT. H. Porter (owe 10) plays G. N. Goldie (rec. 7a). The whole of tho entrance fees .will be givon to the Y.M.C.A. War. Fund, and prizes other than the Challenge Cup will consist of certificates. ■ .
