"The Admiralty announces that the German battle-cruiser squadron, aotompanied by light cruisers and destroyers, appeared off Lowestoft early this morning. The local naval forces engaged it, and in about twenty minutes It, returned to Germany, chased by our light cruisers and destroyers. "On shore, twomen, one woman, and a child were killed. The material damage done was insignificant. "As far as known at present two British light cruisers and a destroyer were hit, hut none were sunk." ZEPPELIN SCOUTS IN EVIDENCE. Shells were seen falling in the sea. A Zeppelin accompanied the raiders, Amsterdam telegrams state that niae Zeppelins were seen in Holland coins Westward yesterday afternoon, possibly less as raiders than scouts. ..INCIDENTAL AIR ENCOUNTERS. London, April 26 During the operations against'the German battle-cruiser squadron off the East Coast on the morning of April 25 two Zeppelins were pursued by British laval aeroplanes over a distance of sixty miles to seaward. The latter dro'nled bombs and darts/ apparently without serious effect t An aeroplane and seaplane attacked the German ships off Lowestoft trapping heavy bombs _on four of the enemy's submarines. They were also jttacked_by bombs, and one seaplane was under heavy fire from-the German fleet. The pilot, though seriously wounded, brought his maohine safely back One pilot is reported missing. He had ascended during the earlier Zenneliii raid, and attacked a Zeppelin off Lowestoft. BRITISH SQUADRON IN ACTION OFF BELGIAN COAST° GERMAN COAST BATTERIES HEAVILY SHELLED. o ',„.'.', Amsterdam, April 25 beveral British warships on Monday heavily bombarded Zeobruege and tne German coast batteries at Heyst, Biankenberghe, and Knocke. The ZeeDrugge harbour locks were hit several times, and some ships'were sunk.
