OBSERVANCES IN OTHER CENTRES.

A half-holiday was observed on account of Anzac Day. _ About a thousand, people attended a united commemoration service in the Government Gardens. Mr. Hill, resident officer, presided, and many returned, soldiers,' Cadets,' and Bov and Girl' Scouts, _ were present. The Anglican. clergy did not participate, the 'Bishon of VYaiapu having forbidden them to take part in a united service.". A large proportion of Anglicans were in the congregation. The .Revs.-D. Hird and F. Shibbs (Presbyterian), H. Peat (Methodist), and Captain Whitely (Salvationist) toolc part.;:
Wanganul, April 25. Anzan Day was celebrated by a big memorial service, preceded by a procession of troops, cadets, and the National Keservo throughout' the town. .There was a very largo attendance at the service, which was held in Cook's Gardens. The day was observed ns a holiday. .
Napier, April 25.' Anznc Day services were held in the Anglican Cathedral and by the United Free Churches in thp Municipal Theatre. 'A procession of the military and National Reserve Bawls _ marched: to the new Soldiers' Club site, and the. foundationstone was laid by,the Mayor. Eloquent addresses werfe given , bv prominent cl«rgymMi and citizens. The crowd was estimated at 10,000. ■

Ashburton, April 25. In honour of the Anzac Bay celebrations, buildings were dccked with bunting, and a procession of territorials, returned soldiers, veterans, and. Cadets, marched to the Domain, -where a relini 1 'n S sm "' ce Wils being attended bv .000 people. Patriotic addresses ..were delivered by the Hon. W-. Fraser. A gathering also assembled at ' Methven, and >vas addressed by Air. W. J. Dickie, M.P., nnd others.
Dunedin, April 25. A holiday was ol>served this afternoon in honour of Anzac Day. The weather was perfect, and a very large crowd watched, the procession of returned soldiers. in which about 170 men partici-' pMed. A short service was held at the I own Hall, and after the nrocession an intercessory service was held in First Church at-midday, and a united service in His Majesty's Theatre at night. The women of the Otago Recruiting Committee placed wreaths on the graves, ot the soldiers in the Dunedin cemeteries, and also on the fallen soldiers' memorialin the Oval, in remembrance of all the heroes now at rest.
Oamaru, April 25. Anzac Day was celebrated this evening by an impressive memorial service, ranged by the Ministers' Association. .An address was delivered by the Veil. Archdeacon Russell. A very large assemblage paid homage to the heroes rf Gallipoli.

Memorial and thanksgiving services were held iu the various churches. In the evening the returned j soldiers were entertained at dinner by the Mayor and councillors, and a public meotI ing was very largely attended.
