MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M.. V presided at the sitting of the Magistrate 6 Court on Saturday morning. Elena Josophino Everett, who committed an indecent act In the Botanical Gardens on Friday afternoon, was sent to gaol for one month. Andrew Thompson, similarly charged, was fined £5, with the option of going to gaol for a month; Mr. W. P. Jackson appeared for Everett, and Mr. H. It O'Leary for Thompson. An elderly woman named Elizabeth Rus3ell was charged with dealing with a forged military pay warrant.for £10 17s. On the application of., Inspector Hendrey, she was remanded until April 22.
Alfred John Hillier pleaded guilty to stealing two garden trowels, valued at Is. 6tl. As the police had no information as to the owner of the trowels, andv as Hillier's previous record v.'as not before tho' Court, lie was. remanded for sentence until tin's morning "
Convictions for insobriety «ero recorded against the following:—George William Jackson, fined £3, with the option of fourteen days' imprisonment; Andrew Somcrville, fined 405., or seven days' imprisonment; Walter Keightly, fined 10s., or 48 hours' imprisonment; Evelyn Barr, fined 10s., or 48 hours' imprisonment. .'.■..
