A Russian official communique states:—"A German offensive between Lakes Sventen and Ilzia was twice hurled back, the enemy abandoning a large number of killed and wounded. "We brought down an, enemy aeroplane near the townßllip of Gloubokcie. "We inflicted heavy losses on the Austrians at the mouth of the Strpya." RUSSIAN OFFENSIVE IN DVINSK REGION AUSTRIAN TREACHERY AFTER, SURRENDER. (Rec. April 16, 11.15 plm.) Petrograd, April 16. ■» A Russian communique states: "We took the offensive south of Garbunovka, in the Dvinsk region, and occupied the hills west and soutb of the village. The enemy's several counter-attacks were repulsed, the Germans leaving many dead. \ "During the fighting at'Trzibukhovce, the Austrians, on approaching our trenches, threw down their rifles, crying out that they- surrendered; instead, they attacked our troops with daggers, and fierce fighting ensued." GERMAN OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE. (R«c. April 16, 5.5 p.m.) Petrograd, April 14. A German official message states:—''The enemy attacked Field-Marshal von Hindenburg's army north-west of Dvinsk and south of- Lake Narotch, but were repulsed with bloody losses." ' AUSTRIAN OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUE. (Rec. April 16, 5.5 p.m.) Amsterdam, April 14. 'An Austrian communique states: —"Heavy outpost fighting developed at the mouth of-the Lower Strypa and south-east of Bucacz. As this is the most southern part or the battlefield, we withdrew our garrison from our advanced redoubts to our main position. "The enemy also penetrated one of our advanced positions north-east of Jaslowicz, but was ejected by our counter-attacks."
