AWARDS FILED

The award of the Court of Arbitration has been filed in the dispute between tho Wellington General Labourers' Onion and the employers at Wanganui, Napier, and Hastings. The award comes into force on May 1 next, and remains in force until. September 16, 1917. It provides for a week of 47 hours, with, pay at the rate of Is.' 2d. to Is. Gd. per hour, the usual provision being mado for overtime, special work, holidays, etc. Particular interest attaches to the award because it embodies a clause in relation to a war bonus. The clause reads: "So long ,as the British Empire remains in a state of war with Germany and Ausj tria, or either of them, and for' three [ months after the cessation of such war, i there shall be paid to all workers coming within the scope of this award, in addition to the rates above-mentioned, a war bonus of 10 per cent, upon the said rates." A qualifying clause allows the parties to make application to the Court for variation of the terms of the bonus.

The Court's award has also heen filed fixing rates of pay and conditions of labour for the Hawke's Bay fishermen's and fish-shed employees. 1 The award embodies the recommendations of the Conciliation Council.
