Tho British Y.M.C.A. has rented hotel buildings in France for the use of tho friends of wounded soldiers at moderate charge, in order that they may remain near their loved ones during tho time their lives hang in tho balance. The Imperial Government has asked the Y.M.C.A. to organiso the feeding and housing of the volunteer workers in the munition factories. The policy of the Y.M.C.A. is to welcome tlto men of any creed, or of no creed. The South _ Canterbury _ Education Board, which is to be abolished when the education districts are newly grouped this year, will not go out of existence without another struggle (says 0. southern exchange). On Satur. daj* afternoon |ast tho board held a con. fcrence with three South Canterbury members of Parliament—Messrs. j. Craigie, J. Anstey, and C. J. Talbot— and discussed ways and means of making another appeal to Parliament in favour of tho board's retention.
